Surfers Paradise is worth visiting and is one of Australia’s most popular tourist destinations, and it’s easy to see why. The beaches are some of the best in the state, and the town is packed with entertainment and dining options.

Not only that, but you’ll find all the best theme parks in the area, making it an excellent destination for families. Whether you’re looking to chill on the beach or enjoy some adrenaline-pumping rides, this Gold Coast suburb has something for you!

Experiences range from short 30-minute rides to full-day adventures, with the option to ride solo or pair up as a couple.

The best part? No licence is required! Before heading out, you’ll receive a full safety and training briefing, making it beginner-friendly yet still exciting for thrill seekers. I joined an early morning tour that cruised from Main Beach to Couran Cove for breakfast, which turned into an unforgettable 3–4 hour adventure on the water.

2. Jet Boating fun

Jet boating is one of Surfers Paradise’s most thrilling water adventures, and with a handful of operators based around Main Beach and the Broadwater, it’s easy to find one close to where you’re staying.

Once you’re strapped in, get ready for an adrenaline-pumping ride filled with high-speed turns, fishtails, and incredible 360-degree spins that will leave you grinning from ear to ear.

The boats are purpose-built for speed and agility, skimming across the water at up to 80km/h, often coming close to sandbanks and weaving past iconic Gold Coast landmarks. The best part? 3. Ride the Duck Vehicle

The famous Duck rides, whether you choose the Aquaduck or the Quack’rDuck, they are a fun and family-friendly way to explore Surfers Paradise from both land and water.

These amphibious vehicles start out like a regular sightseeing bus, cruising the streets and taking you past key landmarks of the Gold Coast. 8. Diving the Underwater world

Diving on the Gold Coast is a truly eye-opening adventure, offering the chance to explore an underwater world filled with vibrant marine life. Thanks to the subtropical climate, the water is pleasantly warm in summer, and visibility can range anywhere from 5 to 30 metres depending on the conditions. 9. Visit any of the Theme parks

There are many Theme parks to choose from and are open every day from about 10am to 5pm. There are also options for 3-day and even yearly passes to save money.

Two companies own theme parks, and you can generally find passes that combine them. This includes:

I run around all day for the extreme rides, but there are so much more available. Between Animal displays/encounters, Shops, Food & Children’s experiences, you will not run out of things to do. However, here is a brief explanation on the more popular parks.

-DreamWorld

Dreamworld is the perfect place to take the kids for a day or two of rides, animal interactions, and fun. The rides are thrilling, and there’s something for everyone, from the big kids to the little ones.

And, of course, there’s Nickelodeon Land to keep the kids entertained.

-WhiteWater World

WhiteWater World is our first water park available. With extreme or slower passed water rides, for anyone looking for a thrill. Waves crash over you, and vertical drops will get your heart racing.

The kid’s splash section is fun for the little ones, with shallower pools and smaller slides. There’s also a wave pool, where you can boogie board or just relax in the sun.

Visiting Movieworld has thrill-seeking rides, meeting movie stars and characters, and a kid’s fun zone. The rides & roller Coaster are particularly popular, with visitors enjoying the adrenalin rush of being in a movie-themed environment.

But the show’s real star is the parade, where visitors can see their favourite movie characters and celebrities up close.

-Seaworld

At Seaworld, you can get up close and personal with a variety of amazing underwater creatures, from playful penguins to graceful dolphins.

Take a ride on one of the many thrilling water-themed rides, or watch in awe as the skilled performers put on an underwater extravaganza.

-Wet ‘n’ Wild

Wet ‘n’ Wild is the second water park and it has many different slides and activities surrounding water and swimming.

The best thing about Wet n Wild is that it’s located right next to Movie World, so you can easily visit both parks in one day.

10. The Infinity Experience

Challenge your senses be amazed at Infinity, which is a unique and mind blowing 30 minute journey into futuristic and maze like worlds of wonder.

It houses 20 environments filled with unique special effects, atmospheric sound field, aromas, ultra groovy music and amazing illusions that appear to go all the way to infinity. Open from 10am to 10pm daily,  a walk-through experience that you’ll enjoy at your own pace.

11. Outback Spectacular

Some might consider this a theme park, as it’s owned by the Seaworld Chain. I categorise it differently, more like a dinner and Show experience.

You will pay a single price for entry, which includes almost everything and a coloured outback hat with the Farm your representing.

The whole nights show is based on a competition between to the 2 farms. The skill and practice that the entertainers go to is amazing and it’s a fun night. During the night you will also be served a 3 course meal with certain drinks included.

12. Ripleys, Believe it or Not

Ripley’s Believe It or Not! has attractions all around the world, each filled with strange, unusual, and downright shocking displays, and the Surfers Paradise location is no exception.

Inside, you’ll find everything from posing beside the world’s tallest man to coming face-to-face with an authentic shrunken head. Every corner has something quirky, bizarre, or interactive to spark your curiosity and keep you entertained.

The museum is easy to explore at your own pace and usually takes about an hour or two to wander through. Conveniently located right in the heart of Cavill Avenue, it’s an activity you can easily fit into your Surfers Paradise itinerary.

There’s no need to pre-book, simply walk up to the front desk, grab your ticket, and get ready for a dose of weird and wonderful fun.

13. Skypoint Observation Deck

If you only had one day to spend in Surfers Paradise, I’d recommend making the SkyPoint Observation Deck your top priority. Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is worthwhile to visit and has a wide variety of animals that you can see and even interact with! You can feed the lorikeets, hold a koala, and even get up close and personal with a snake.

In addition to animal interactions, there are also daily shows featuring very cheeky birds and other animals. It’s a great day out for the whole family and open from 9am to 4pm every day.

18. Australia Zoo

A day trip to Australia Zoo is one of the best attractions on the Sunshine Coast for animal lovers of all ages. Founded by the late Steve Irwin and made famous worldwide by the “Crocodile Hunter” legacy, the zoo continues to carry on his vision of wildlife conservation and education.

One of the absolute highlights is the Crocoseum show, where you can watch the keepers interact with massive crocodiles in a thrilling display that’s both exciting and educational.

And as the sun sets, the food trucks come out, and you can enjoy a bite by the beach. It’s the perfect way to spend an evening from 4pm to 9pm every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

29. Shop at the Cavill Avenue Mall

Cavill Avenue Mall is the main shopping strip in Surfers Paradise, and it’s the perfect place to find everything you need, all in one convenient location. There are plenty of dining options, from fast food to casual cafes to fine dining restaurants.

You’ll also find all the groceries you need and a variety of specialty stores. And, of course, there are plenty of clothing stores to choose from, whether you’re looking for beachwear or something more formal.

30. Watch a Sunrise

With most beaches along the Gold Coast facing east, you’re perfectly positioned to witness some of the stunning sunrises in Australia. As the first rays of light stretch across the horizon, the sky transforms into a canvas of pinks, oranges, and golds, a moment that’s well worth the early wake-up call.

Truth is, while some have been better than others, I haven’t had a bad stay anywhere. Each have their own draw cards from Budget-friendly, near where I want be or views over the beach.

Therefore, I always suggest planning around what you want to do and finding something nearby within your budget. However, keep in mind that older hotels do lack in sound proofing the the 24 hr traffic can affect your sleep.
