About Victoria
Located in the Southern part of the mainland, we have the small state of Victoria and its capitol city, Melbourne. It only covers an area close to 230,000 square kilometres and over 6 million people live there.
Surprizing, over 5 million of these residents call the coastal city of Melbourne home and one of the major International gateways. Victoria’s coastline is 1800 km long and borders Bass Strait, the body of water that separates the mainland from Tasmania.
Things to do
One of the most famous tourist attractions in Victoria would have to be the Great Ocean Road. This stretches from Torquay to Allansford along the Limestone coast and feature several landmarks and natural rock formations.
Apart from that you have many rainforests & waterfalls, gold rush territory, Silo Art trails & home to the fairy penguin parade. Melbourne is a teeming metropolis with intriguing laneways, shops, cafes and city sites, it’s also where you will the the National Heritage listed Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Climate
Despite the small size, Victoria’s climate does vary around the state. The north has much drier and warmer weather than the south, getting close to New South Wales. The climate is warm to hot in summer (December to February), mild in autumn (March to May), crisp in winter (June to August), and cool in spring (September to November).
You will even find it’s common to snow in the higher set mountains like Mount Buller and Mount Hotham. These you can access a few hours’ drive North-east of Melbourne.
